Quantity Surveyor - ELECTRA

The Quantity Surveyor (Factory Production)is responsible for monitoring and controlling costs across all in-house production activities within the Fabrication division. The role ensures accurate estimation, budgeting, and cost reporting for carpentry, steel, paint, graphics, and electrical scopes. By working closely with Production and Operations teams, the Quantity Surveyor supports financial efficiency, reduces wastage, and ensures project profitability while maintaining high-quality standards and timely delivery.
 
Main Accountabilities 
 
1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting 
  • Prepare cost estimates for in-house production scopes (carpentry, steel,paint, electrical, etc.). 
  • Develop production budgets and align them with project cost plans. 
  • Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs against allocated budgets. 
2. Production Cost Control 
  • Track labor utilization (internal vs outsourced) on a daily/weekly basis. 
  • Validate material requisitions and consumption against project budgets. 
  • Ensure production costs are captured correctly in Business Central (BC)  
  • Identify cost variances and propose corrective measures. 
3. BOQ & Variations Management 
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for production works. 
  • Review design/drawing changes and update cost impacts accordingly. 
  • Maintain variation logs and issue cost impact reports to PM/AM teams. 
  1. Reporting & Documentation 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost control reports. 
  • Maintain organized records of production costs, BOQs, and variations. 
  • Maintain proper documentation of labor, material, and equipment costs. 
  • Support reviews with financial insights on production performance. 
  1. Value Engineering & Continuous Improvement 
  • Recommend cost-effective alternatives in materials and production methods. 
  • Work with Production and Operations teams to minimize material wastage and optimize labor usage. 
  • Support Lean initiatives and process improvement activities within factory production 
Knowledge & Experience 
Number of years of Experience: 
3–5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Factory Production, Fit-out, or Exhibitions 
Certification: 
 
Education:  
graduation 
Languages:  
English and Hindi  
  
Systems: 
Basic computer knowledge, Word, Excel 
Auto CAD knowledge  
 
Technical & Functional Skills 
  • Strong knowledge of cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and variation analysis. 
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central, SAP, or equivalent). 
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, dashboards, cost tracking). 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and shop drawings. 
  • Understanding of production workflows (carpentry, steel, painting, graphics, electrical). 
  • Expertise in cost control, budget monitoring, and financial reporting. 
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Commercial awareness with ability to manage vendor/subcontractor agreements. 
  • Effective communication and coordination across Production, Operations, and Supervisory teams. 
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive approach with ability to work under tight deadlines
