About the Opportunity
Element HR Consulting is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chartered Accountant to support one of its clients with a comprehensive accounting cleanup and audit-readiness project.
The engagement involves reviewing, reconstructing, reconciling, and preparing financial records covering the previous five financial years. The selected professional will work directly with Element HR Consulting and be engaged on a project basis to deliver accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.

Location: UAE (Remote with occasional meetings as required)
Project Duration: 2–3 Months (subject to documentation availability)
Reporting To: Element HR Consulting
 
Project Scope
The consultant will be responsible for conducting a complete review of historical accounting records and ensuring the books are accurate, reconciled, compliant, and prepared for statutory audit requirements.
The assignment covers five financial years of accounting records and requires strong expertise in financial reporting, reconciliation, audit preparation, and UAE regulatory compliance.
 
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Cleanup & Reconstruction
  • Review accounting records covering the previous five financial years.
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies, omissions, and misclassifications.
  • Reconstruct incomplete accounting records where required.
  • Validate opening and closing balances across financial periods.
  • Ensure accounting records accurately reflect business activities.
Financial Reconciliations
  • Perform bank reconciliations across all accounts.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable balances.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany and shareholder accounts.
  • Reconcile fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve historical unreconciled balances.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and validate:
    • Trial Balances
    • Profit & Loss Statements
    • Balance Sheets
    • Cash Flow Statements
    • Supporting Schedules
  • Ensure financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards.
VAT & Regulatory Review
  • Review historical VAT transactions and filings.
  • Identify compliance gaps and discrepancies.
  • Recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Support compliance with UAE accounting and taxation requirements.
Audit Readiness & Support
  • Prepare audit schedules and working papers.
  • Organize supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with auditors during the audit process.
  • Address audit observations and information requests.
  • Ensure records are audit-ready and properly documented.
Process Improvement
  • Identify weaknesses in accounting processes and controls.
  • Recommend improvements to bookkeeping and financial reporting practices.
  • Establish documentation standards for future compliance.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting, finance, or audit experience.
  • Proven experience in historical accounting cleanup projects.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing organizations for external audits.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
  • Experience working with:

    • Investment Companies
    • Holding Companies
    • Commercial Trading Businesses
  • Previous experience with UAE-based entities.
  • Experience working independently on project-based assignments.
  • Prior audit firm or consulting experience is highly desirable.
Deliverables
The successful consultant will be expected to provide:
  • Fully reconciled accounting records for the previous five financial years.
  • Updated General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
  • Bank reconciliation reports.
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable reconciliations.
  • Fixed Asset Register and supporting schedules.
  • Financial statements for each relevant financial year.
  • Audit-ready schedules and documentation.
  • Summary report outlining findings, adjustments made, and recommendations.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a professional who has successfully completed similar accounting reconstruction and audit-readiness projects and can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strict confidentiality.
