Essential Requirements: 
  • Experience delivering outdoor education, adventure activities, experiential learning programmes, or residential camp experiences.
  • Strong group management and participant engagement skills, with the ability to maintain safe, positive, and well-managed learning environments.
  • Relevant technical outdoor qualifications appropriate to the activities being delivered.
  • Relevant First Aid qualification.
  • Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, or developing instructors and junior staff.
  • Experience working with schools, children, young people, or educational groups.
  • Full UAE driving licence or ability to obtain one.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to respond effectively to changing conditions and operational requirements.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management, safety procedures, participant welfare, and dynamic risk assessment.
  • Professional, reliable, and capable of maintaining high standards of programme delivery and operational performance.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience writing, reviewing, or contributing to risk assessments, SOPs, activity plans, or programme documentation.
  • Experience within remote, expedition-based, or wilderness environments.
  • Additional specialist activity qualifications relevant to outdoor education and adventure programming.
  • Experience leading multi-day, residential, or expedition programmes.
  • Experience overseeing specific technical activity areas such as climbing, watersports, high ropes, paddlesports, or expeditions.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance and programme development initiatives. 
Purpose of the Role:
To lead the delivery of activities and programmes, ensuring that sessions are safe, engaging, and delivered to a consistently high standard. Senior Instructors are responsible for maintaining delivery quality, supporting instructor development, and contributing to programme improvement within their areas of expertise.
 
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Activity Delivery & Leadership: Leads the delivery of activities and programmes in line with company standards, SOPs, and programme objectives. Maintains oversight of delivery quality during programmes and supports instructors in maintaining strong group management, pacing, and participant engagement.
  • Instructor Support, Development & Quality Assurance: Provides guidance, coaching, and real-time feedback to instructors during programme delivery. Supports staff development and helps maintain consistent delivery standards across activities and programme areas.  
  • Programme Development & Technical Oversight: Supports the development and improvement of programmes within their areas of expertise, including session planning, risk assessments, SOPs, and activity content where required. Senior Instructors may hold responsibility for specific activity areas, such as watersports, climbing, expeditions, or high ropes, while continuing to support wider programme delivery across the operation.
  • Safety & Operational Responsibility: Applies risk assessments and dynamic risk management principles in real time, modifying or stopping activities where required to maintain safety. Ensures that incidents, equipment issues, and operational concerns are managed and reported appropriately.
  • Participant Experience & Group Management: Maintains high standards of professionalism, participant engagement, and group management throughout programme delivery. Supports a positive experience for participants, schools, and visiting staff through strong communication, organisation, and leadership.
  • Authority and Decision Making: The Senior Instructor is responsible for leading activity delivery across programmes and providing direction, support, and real-time guidance to instructors during programme delivery. They are empowered to make operational decisions in response to changing conditions, modify or stop activities where safety or delivery standards require it, and are responsible for escalating operational, safety, welfare, or performance concerns to the Centre Manager as appropriate.
     
    This Senior Instructor role sits nicely between the Instructor and Centre Manager positions, with a strong emphasis on technical competence, instructor development, quality assurance, and leadership during programme delivery.
