Job Purpose:
The Medical Director will lead and oversee the operational, clinical, and strategic goals of the medical department at IHLAD. This role focuses on integrating lifestyle and preventive medicine into clinical operations while ensuring compliance with UAE healthcare regulations. The Medical Director will also engage with local stakeholders, manage medical staff, and champion a patient-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership and Clinical Oversight
- Support the CMO in implementing the medical department’s strategic and operational goals, focusing on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in lifestyle and preventive medicine.
- Oversee day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring the seamless integration of lifestyle medicine into standard patient care.
- Ensure consistent application of clinical protocols, guidelines, and standards aligned with lifestyle medicine, in collaboration with the CMO.
Local Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community organizations, and regulatory authorities, to enhance the visibility and impact of IHLAD’s lifestyle medicine services.
- Act as a liaison between IHLAD and Abu Dhabi’s health authorities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and alignment with healthcare initiatives.
- Represent IHLAD in local forums, seminars, and community events to promote awareness of lifestyle medicine and preventive care.
- Gather feedback from patients and stakeholders to improve services and address community health needs in alignment with IHLAD’s mission.
Medical Staff Management and Development
- Assist the CMO in recruiting and managing qualified lifestyle medicine practitioners, ensuring adherence to IHLAD’s standards of patient-centred care.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and local professional development opportunities for medical staff, emphasizing lifestyle and preventive medicine.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address clinical or operational concerns, fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and accountability.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Oversee the quality of care delivered, ensuring adherence to UAE healthcare regulations and IHLAD’s internal standards.
- Implement and monitor clinical quality improvement initiatives under the CMO’s direction, enhancing patient safety and clinical outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and liaise with regulatory bodies on compliance matters.
Patient Experience and Community-Centric Care
- Champion a patient-centred approach, promoting personalized wellness plans and health education to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure all patient interactions reflect IHLAD’s commitment to lifestyle medicine and address the cultural and community-specific needs of Abu Dhabi’s diverse population.
- Work with the CMO and patient service teams to address patient feedback and implement improvements aligned with local community expectations.
Governance & Compliance:
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), collaborating closely with medical staff, administrative teams, and local health authorities.
Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to UAE healthcare regulations and patient safety standards.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with local privacy laws.
- Collaborate with the CMO to ensure clinical operations align with internal and external compliance requirements.
Decision-Making Authority: Holds authority to make decisions regarding day-to-day clinical operations, medical team management, and local stakeholder engagement, escalating strategic matters to the CMO.

Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of UAE healthcare regulations and patient safety standards.
- Advanced skills in lifestyle medicine protocols and preventive care practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS) or Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from an internationally recognized and reputable university.
- Completion of a postgraduate accredited lifestyle medicine curriculum (IBLM/ABLM), and/or demonstration of lifestyle/longevity medicine skills based on clinical practice.
Professional Certifications:
- Completion of a residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Subspecialties are welcome especially in geriatrics, endocrinology, cardiology
- Specialty Board Certification
- Minimum of 5-7 years in clinical care practice inclusive of lifestyle/longevity medicine
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience, including experience in lifestyle and preventive care, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.
Other Requirements:
- CITI/ICH/GCP training and Dataflow clearance eligibility.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic (preferred).
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: Primarily office-based, with frequent interaction with patients, medical staff, and external stakeholders.
- Physical Requirements: Standard clinical and administrative activities, with occasional participation in community or stakeholder events.
- Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, primarily within Abu Dhabi for local stakeholder engagement and community events.
