Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - UAE - James L Williams

James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the UAE.
This role will lead the mechanical design and coordination of large-scale building services projects, delivering innovative, cost-effective, and technically sound engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the mechanical design and design review of large-scale projects across commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, retail, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Deliver technically sound engineering solutions for HVAC, Plumbing Water, Plumbing Drainage, LPG, and Fire Fighting systems.
  • Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary design teams, including design engineers, CAD technicians, and support personnel.
  • Conduct independent design reviews, technical assessments, and quality checks to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze complex engineering challenges and develop practical, value-engineered solutions.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, BOQs, and design documentation.
  • Provide technical support during equipment selection, procurement activities, and techno-commercial evaluations.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, utility authorities, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Represent JLW in design coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth within the team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the design of building services projects within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical designs for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, retail, or mixed-use developments.
  • Strong design experience in HVAC, Plumbing Water, Plumbing Drainage, LPG, and Fire Fighting systems.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design projects and coordinating with clients, consultants, architects, and utility authorities.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international mechanical design codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience preparing design packages including drawings, specifications, BOQs, and procurement documentation.
  • Proficiency in Hevacomp, IESVE, CYMAP, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven Experience in Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
