Role Description
You will join a newly built infra team that will take complete ownership of all infra at Penny. You will work together with your team to plan for the desired state of the Infra. This will include doing gap analysis and finding the issues with the current state, and then work on optimizing it and develop it to a reliable and robust platform.

Role responsibilities
Some examples of what you will work with day to day:
  • Set up automation with CI/CD
  • Optimize the Github Actions workflows to increase speed and resiliance
  • Aid developers with deployments
  • Replace manually deployed Infra with IaC (Terraform/Opentofu)
  • Troubleshoot resource usage of the infra and make sure autoscaling is properly setup
  • Security hardening of our Infra
  • Administer Mongodb atlas clusters
  • Work on monitoring and observability for our Infra and applications
  • Handle IAM permissions and making sure credentials are properly handled

Some of the projects you will be working on:
  • Redeploying the entire Infra with IaC (Terraform/opentofu)
  • Automation of the entire deployment process (Github Actions workflows)
  • Centralizing secrets management with GCP Secrets Manager
  • Setting up new monitoring and Observability solution

Required skills:
  • Need to know linux bash scripting
  • Need to know Terraform
  • Must understand how CI/CD works
  • Needs to know the basics of docker
  • Must be comfortable with reading and understanding at least 1 programming language, preferably Javascript or Python.
  • Must have a good understanding of infrastructure security best practices
  • Need to have an understand of cloud infrastructure such as serverless, VMs, Kubernetes, etc
  • Must have an understanding of Infrastructure monitoring/observability
Being an expert in any of this is not required, but you can't be clueless in this.

Bonuses:
  • Have worked with GCP (Cloud run, GKE, VMs, etc)

  • Understands the MEAN stack and how to support it
  • AI literacy and experience using claude code
