As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral part of our caring team in Clinic, working in an ONSITE environment to ensure top-quality veterinary care for our animal patients and excellent support for our veterinarians and pet owners.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical, surgical and hospitalised patients.
Monitor and maintain anaesthesia throughout surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety from induction through recovery.
Assist veterinarians during consultations, diagnostics, medical work-ups and surgical procedures.
Perform laboratory diagnostics, including sample collection, in-house laboratory testing and interpretation of routine results.
Provide inpatient nursing care, including patient monitoring, medication administration, fluid therapy, wound management and post-operative care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and ensure clinical protocols and hospital procedures are followed.
Conduct nurse consultations, including weight management, nutrition advice, post-operative checks and preventative healthcare where appropriate.
Promote and practise gentle handling techniques, ensuring patient welfare and minimising stress throughout every visit.
Support, mentor and assist in the training and development of nursing assistants and junior nursing staff.
Work collaboratively with the veterinary team while also being confident managing nursing responsibilities independently when required.
Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient care, treatment plans, discharge instructions and follow-up recommendations.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, biosecurity and workplace safety throughout the hospital.
Must have requirements
Qualification in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent recognised veterinary nursing qualification).
Minimum 1–2 years of clinical veterinary nursing experience (experienced new graduates may be considered).
Confident in surgical nursing, anaesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
Experience providing medical nursing care for hospitalised and isolation patients.
Competent in blood collection, IV catheter placement, laboratory diagnostics and operation of in-house diagnostic equipment.
Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
Passion for delivering high standards of patient care and animal welfare.
Commitment to Fear Free handling and low-stress patient care. (If you do not have the certificate we will provide the training as all of our team is certified.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
Calm, compassionate and professional approach when working with patients, clients and colleagues.
Willingness to work flexible shifts (Weekend work).
Nice to have requirements
Previous experience mentoring or supervising veterinary nurses or nursing assistants.
Additional training or certification in anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, dentistry or animal behaviour.
Experience using advanced in-house laboratory and diagnostic equipment.
Multilingual communication skills.
