Role Overview
 
As a Coach at Wolfi's Cycling Academy, you will be responsible for providing high-quality training to our cyclists, helping them to improve their skills, achieve their goals, and enjoy the sport. This role aims to promote cycling as a healthy and accessible sport, inspire young riders, and develop participation while ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Coaching & Program Delivery:
    • Deliver structured cycling sessions in schools and academy programs.
    • Adapt coaching methods to suit different age groups and abilities (main target ages range between 3-14).
    • Teach essential cycling skills, safety awareness, and road cycling techniques in a fun and engaging manner.
    • Identify and nurture talented young riders, providing opportunities for progression into academy programs.
    Community Engagement & School Partnerships:
    • Build strong relationships with schools, teachers, parents, and local organisations to increase participation.
    • Assist in the implementation of cycling programs in schools, ensuring alignment with educational and sports objectives.
    • Organise and support community cycling events, races, and outreach programs to encourage wider engagement.
    Health & Safety & Equipment Management:
    • Ensure all coaching sessions comply with health & safety regulations and best practices.
    • Conduct risk assessments before sessions and maintain a safe cycling environment.
    • Assist in managing bikes, helmets, and training equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and available for sessions.
    Event & Competition Support:
    • Support the academy’s races, competitions, and cycling festivals, helping young riders experience competitive cycling.
    • Encourage participation in local and national youth cycling events.
    Requirements for the Role
  • Recognised coaching certification (e.g., British Cycling Level 1 or 2, UCI Coaching Certificate, or equivalent) would be advantageous.
  • Passion for working with children and young people to develop their cycling skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire riders.
  • Knowledge of cycling safety, bike handling skills, and training techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including after-school sessions and weekends when required.
  • A valid first aid certification and Safeguarding in Sport qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Experience working with schools, sports clubs, or community programs is an advantage.
